Canary Cottage Kids

Kids on the Block – Columbus Ohio Troupe

Canary Cottage Kids on the Block is an educational puppetry program that uses life-sized, multicultural puppets to promote acceptance of disabilities and behavioral health for children. The puppet presentations help children understand their feelings and encourage communication of problems or stressors that affect them at home, school, and other places. The troupe serves as a non-threatening vehicle through which children can relate to the narratives of the puppets and articulate issues they might otherwise feel uncomfortable discussing.

Educating children about peers with different abilities, tolerance, and diversity

Canary Cottage Kids on the Block uses interactive puppetry to teach children about disabilities and behavioral health. Informative and engaging skits show puppet characters with diverse backgrounds as active participants in society. Children can participate in a question-and-answer period at the end of each program.
